Adjusted Building Exit Hours at RAC and MAC
Buildings now close 15 minutes after activities end. For regular hours, this means:
- Weeknights: Exit RAC and MAC by 11:15pm
- Weekends: Exit RAC and MAC by 6:45pm
Students and members are asked to gather belongings and exit the change rooms and facilities promptly at the exit time.
Your cooperation is appreciated and necessary to allow staff to perform important closing tasks that ensure we are ready to welcome users the following morning (facility resets, equipment cleaning, locker clear outs, etc.).
Outside of holiday hours, regular hours of operation remain unchanged.
Expanded Women's Only Hours
- New Saturday / Sunday times in RAC Fitness Centre & Track
- New Afternoon / Weeknight times in Studio 2 (note the RAC studio name change below!)
Our women's only hours originated in 2014 out of advocacy by and partnership with the TMSU's Centre for Women and Trans People, Racialised Students' Collective and Muslim Students' Association.
Since then, the every-weekday program has become both a sought-after and well-used time for women to use the fitness centre and track, and an important tool to build a more equitable recreation experience for students and members at TMU.
Starting January 5, 2026, women's only hours will expand to add both weekend times in the RAC fitness centre and afternoon/evening times in RAC Studio 2.
New All Gender Change Space
While we await the renovation of our main change rooms at RAC, we are working to make comfort and privacy improvements for our students and members.
- New RAC All Gender Change Space: Opening in January 2026, look for a new all gender change space near the RAC Customer Service Centre and the existing all gender washroom. Repurposing what was previously a staff change area, the new space represents an important addition of an all gender change space in the RAC for students and members, in addition to the one in nearby Kerr Hall. The new space includes private change stalls, a private shower-and-change stall, and washroom fixtures. And, yes, in (PDF file) keeping with best practices (external link) , users will note there are no external doors to the space, using openness to enhance safety through activity and shared monitoring. Rest assured the private change and shower stalls within have full length doors for your privacy and comfort!
- Pool Deck Change Space: Knowing the limitations of our current binary change rooms, private change stalls were installed on the pool deck in October 2025
RAC Studio 1 & 2 Name Swap
Effective Monday, December 15, Studio 1 and 2 have changed names!
If you pay close attention to our new building directories, you’ll notice Studio 1 and 2 are listed on different floors than you may be used to - that’s because they are switching names to match our new floor names. Doing so will mean Studio 1 is on LL1 and Studio 2 is on LL2, instead of the other way around.
There will be short-term pain as staff and visitors adjust and we make the change on websites, posted schedules, etc., but it will be much more intuitive for new visitors over time.
See the photo slideshow below for a quick view of the new names.
Thank you for your patience as we navigate this change together!
