Steam shutdown impacts at RAC & Kerr Hall
TMU’s Facilities Management & Development is performing important maintenance work on and shutting down a campus steam system that supplies hot water to both the Recreation & Athletics Centre (RAC) and Kerr Hall, including heating the RAC pool.

How this will impact you
RAC Pool will close. Members are invited to use the Miles Nadal JCC (see below for details).
Hot water will be unavailable in showers and washrooms in RAC and Kerr Hall. Cold water will remain available in washrooms, fountains, sinks and showers.
Full hot water service will remain available at the Mattamy Athletic Centre and all other activity spaces will remain open at RAC and Kerr Hall.
Pool Users: Miles Nadal JCC
During this closure, all TMU Athletics & Recreation members have free access to the Miles Nadal JCC pool, as part of a reciprocal agreement between our facilities. A schedule of their lane and recreational swims is available on the Miles Nadal JCC website (external link) .
To access the Miles Nadal JCC pool, TMU members must:
- enter through 750 Spadina Ave.
- check in with the MNJCC Security desk
- proceed to the info desk to provide proof of membership, which may be either a TMU OneCard or via the TMU Rec app
- create an account at the info desk on your first visit, which includes signing a waiver
Towel service and day-use lockers will be provided to all TMU members at no charge. Locks are not provided.
