In general, it is best to login directly at the blog you want to work on, using the admin URL.
To find the admin URL, take the blog address (like https://myblog.blog.torontomu.ca) and add /wp-admin to the end. (ie. https://myblog.blog.torontomu.ca/wp-admin )
- Can’t access the admin area of your blog? We have some workarounds that will help you to get access to your blog.
IMPORTANT: If you are able to login, but cannot get to the admin pages of your site, please refer to Can’t access the admin area of my blog troubleshooting tips.
Please note that you won’t be able to login to any blogs hosted on this network until you have an account here. If you previously had a blog here, you may still have an account.
The best way to find out? Try logging in.
If you can’t login, please review the login tips listed below. If you still you still can’t login, and you suspect you don’t have an account on blog.torontomu.ca, there are two options:
- If you need a new blog, simply submit a (google form) request for a new blog (external link) . You will get an account when we create your blog. You will also receive an email with all the details from there.
- If you need access to a blog someone else set up, please have them try to add you to their blog. If they can’t, they will need to contact us to create your account and give you access.
Whenever possible, you should login directly to your blog (instead of logging in from the main homepage). This provides direct access to your site with no additional steps.
Login directly to the admin dashboard of your blog.
If you are expected to manage the blog or create posts, the best way to ensure you can get to the admin dashboard of your blog is to login directly at that address. Just add /wp-admin to the end of your blog address.
Example: https://myblog.blog.torontomu.ca/wp-admin
Simply add /wp-admin to the end of your blog’s address (like http://myblog.blog.torontomu.ca/wp-admin) – as long as you have been added to the blog, you should be able to login and access the blog here.
Logging in at the blog.torontomu.ca homepage
If you login at the main homepage, you will have to click the Back to… button to get back to the homepage after logging in, then click on My Sites to access the sites you have been added to.
Tip: You can always tell which blog you are in by looking in the Admin Bar, at the top-left of your screen. The title of the blog will appear there.
Regardless of which blog on the network you log in at, you must use your university username and password (the same one you use to access D2L Brightspace, and the my.torontomu.ca portal).
Your username may be in the format j2smith, jane.smith, etc.
Do not attempt to log in using any of these as your username:
- Your email address
- Your student number
- Your blog URL
- The username of a shared generic email account (these do not have accounts on the blog system)
Also ensure your username is entered in all lowercase letters, as capital letters will not be accepted.

After logging in through TMU CAS (Central Authentication Service), the user is directed to a blue page when trying to access an admin page of their blog.
This does not appear to affect all users at all times.
1. Try clicking the Back to… link
This is the simplest solution, and will work for most users.
2. Try logging out and log in directly to the admin of your blog
If you tried the instructions above and continue to get the blue/grey page instead of your blog admin, you may need to log out completely and try to log in the admin address for your blog.
1. On the blue/grey page, click the log out link. Repeat this until you get the CAS logout page.
2. Log in directly to the admin address of your blog. You can do this by adding /wp-admin to the end of your blog URL, like: https://myblog.blog.torontomu.ca/wp-admin. You will be brought to the CAS login page, and once you log in you will have access to your blog's admin area.

| Can’t access the admin area of my blog | After logging in through CAS, the user is directed to a blue page when trying to access an admin page of their blog. This does not appear to affect all users at all times. |
Workaround: 1. Trying using the Back to… button to go to the blog homepage and use admin bar (top) to access admin pages. OR 2. Try to log out, then go directly to the admin address of your blog and log in there. Workaround instructions can be found in the “Can’t access the admin area of my blog” section of this page. |
| Site will not load (white screen) | Does your site use the Magazine Basic theme? The Magazine Basic theme does not work with the Easy Google Fonts plugin. |
Please contact our support team to correct this issue, as you won’t be able to reach the admin panel in order to fix it yourself. |

| Button block doesn’t respect colour selections when using the Twenty fourteen theme. | Despite selecting the foreground and background colour, the button background appears bright green (from the Twenty fourteen theme.) | Workaround: Instead of selecting one of the colour options you see, click the multicoloured wheel and select a ‘custom’ colour. These sense to work as expected. |
| Add block option (“+”) does not display between blocks. | When you hover on the borders in between, above and below blocks, the + icon should appear to add a block in that space. Sometimes the one above the currently selected block does not appear. | Workaround: Try selecting another block, to shift the focus OR save your post as a draft and reload the post editor. |
