You Choose What To Do Next are trauma-informed accessible legal information workshops and resources for people affected by gender-based violence. Join us this month to talk about Section 137.1 of the Courts of Justice Act (CJA) which outlines the parameters of Ontario’s anti-SLAPP legislation. SLAPP suits (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation) are legal actions often used as a way to dissuade, intimidate, and silence survivors of sexual harassment and assault who have publically come forward about what happened by claiming defamation. Ontario’s anti-SLAPP legislation has been developed to support survivors from defamation claims against them.
