Tower Performance 2025
First year Architectural Science students participated in the Tower Performance project on October 21, 2025. This assignment is an annual tradition of ASC 102 The Built World, which introduces practical strategies for the management of finite resources and provides a foundation for understanding how natural elements, materials, time, money and human capital influence the creation of the built environment.
Students are challenged with staging an architectural performance, centered on the construction of a tower. Towers are to be light, occupy no more than one square metre in plan, and aim to reach the ceiling of the Architecture Building’s three-storey central atrium.
Restricted to readily available, reusable, or recyclable materials, the project requires boundless imagination and carefully planned team work. Erection must be choreographed, completed within 5 minutes, allow for safe movement and disassembly, and share an engaging story by interacting with the space, light, sound, and atmosphere of the space.
Congrats to the 125 students of ASC 102, instructor Reza Assasi and the support team who made this rousing tower-raising event possible.
