DAS at Doors Open Toronto 2025
Over the weekend of May 24-25, the Department of Architectural Science opened its doors to the public, inviting hundreds of visitors to explore its dramatic spaces and be inspired by the student work on display on all four floors as part of the Year End Show.
This is the second year that DAS has participated in this popular city-wide Doors Open Toronto event, since its debut in 2024. The TSA’s unwavering support—alongside the dedication of its amazing volunteers—helped make this year’s Doors Open a resounding success. As one of the featured sites in this major GTA-wide event, DAS proudly showcased its vibrant community, cutting-edge research, and the next generation of design talent.
For DAS Chair Lisa Landrum, one of the many delights of Doors O pen is greeting alumni who visit with their families – sometimes stepping into the building for the first time since they graduated decades ago. “I love hearing stories of how this place inspired careers and helped create friendships and fond memories,” Landrum shared.
One such visitor was Adam Di Iorio, a DAS grad from 1999, now Operations Manager at D.F. 2000 Inc (external link) , providing fencing and project management services to clients throughout the GTA.
Doors Open Toronto offers a rare glimpse into the creative spaces behind the city’s built environment. From intimate laneway studios to grand heritage structures, over 150 sites opened their doors this year, inviting the public to engage with architects, planners, and designers shaping Toronto’s future.
