2027 Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) Innovation Fund (IF) Information Session #1

In anticipation of 2027 CFI - IF Call for Proposals, the Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation (OVPRI) is pleased to announce three information sessions. CFI hopes to officially release the information by early spring. We have decided to launch our INOI prior to all information being known; updates will be provided as they become available from CFI.

The IF competition provides an opportunity to secure significant funding for new research space and equipment. This is your opportunity to develop a large transformative proposal, with a minimum proposal size of a CFI ask of ~$2 million (TMU’s share), to enhance research capacity in areas of strategic research at both the faculty and university levels. The  (PDF file) 2025-2030 Strategic Research Plan highlights the seven key themes where the university is driving SRC excellence, intensity and impact and the ways in which our SRC community addresses complex problems that demand bold and creative solutions.

The sessions will cover the following:

• The Innovation Fund program: objectives, eligible costs, evaluation criteria, anticipated due dates, etc.
• Key characteristics of a successful proposal.
• Analysis of the last competition if available from the federal government.
• An informal Q&A period and opportunity for discussion.
