TMU ranks among top five research universities in six categories in latest rankings from Research Infosource
Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) has ranked in the top five in six categories among Canada’s comprehensive research universities in the latest rankings of Canada’s Top 50 Research Universities from Research Infosource.
This year’s rankings demonstrate the ongoing success of TMU researchers as they work together with their partners and collaborators to accelerate research and foster the next generation of experts.
“TMU’s performance reflects our research excellence and our ability to work across traditional boundaries,” said Steven N. Liss, TMU’s vice-president, research and innovation. “Our faculty, students and partners are collectively navigating profound challenges, such as new technologies and our changing climate. By integrating diverse perspectives and expertise, TMU remains at the forefront of research that delivers insight, solutions that support communities and impact that drives Canada’s innovation economy.”
The annual rankings, which reflect the 2023–24 fiscal year, see TMU ranked third in both corporate research income growth and not-for-profit research income growth. TMU placed fourth in research intensity spending per graduate student and fifth in three other categories: University Research Income Growth, Corporate Research Income and Corporate Research Income as a percent of Total Research Income.
Overall, TMU ranked twenty-fifth among Canada’s Top 50 Research Universities, receiving $95.9 million in research funding.
A strong showing in 5-Year University Publications Spotlights
In the 5-Year University Publication Spotlights: 2019-2023, TMU ranked in the top five in four categories.
The University Climate Change Publications Spotlight saw TMU ranked second in Climate Change Publications Growth.
In the University Artificial Intelligence Collaboration Publications Spotlight, TMU was third in cross-sector AI collaboration publications and fourth in cross-sector AI collaboration publications as a percentage of total AI publications.
In the University Publication Performance Spotlight, TMU ranked third in social sciences and humanities publications as a percentage of total publications.
These results reflect TMU’s foundation of excellence as its research community continues to excel and deliver meaningful solutions to complex, real world challenges.
