Message from the Vice-President, Research and Innovation
Toronto Metropolitan University’s researchers are at the forefront of endeavours addressing complex challenges across Canada and beyond our borders. In striving to advance knowledge, they also seek bold, creative solutions that will help enable a more inclusive and sustainable future for all.
Earlier this year, our 2025–2030 Strategic Research Plan was unveiled. The seven strategic themes highlight our strengths, the beacons of excellence and key areas where we are driving diverse scholarly, research and creative (SRC) initiatives that support the training of our next generation of research leaders and innovators. Our researchers are redefining possibilities and driving impact in the important areas of health, community, culture, technology and democracy, finding real-world solutions to complex problems.
I am excited to share the latest edition of Innovation that details some of the outcomes emerging from these important research efforts. Whether it’s unlocking the mysteries of brain health, pioneering advanced biosensing technology or identifying potential new technology to help rescue disaster survivors, discover how TMU researchers are leveraging our collective expertise, collaborating locally and across borders to make positive change on a national and global scale.
