Step above the city and see a different side of campus! As part of the Urban Farm’s weekly Summer Open Farm at the DCC, visitors are now welcome to visit and tour the rooftop farm on the George Vari Engineering and Computing Centre (ENG.)
What to expect
TMU students, faculty and staff will have the option to visit the rooftop farm on their own from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. or join a brief, guided tour that will begin at 11:15 a.m. This casual tour will touch on the Urban Farm’s history, operations and best practices, while also covering the dedicated plots for cut-flowers, pollinators, natural dye and fibres and a four-year crop rotation of annual vegetables. Afterwards, visitors are free to take in the sites at the farm on their own.
Registration encouraged
While walk-ins are welcome, we encourage guests to fill out the Registration form (external link) in order to visit the ENG rooftop. Group sizes are limited, so please visit the Urban Farm Tours webpage for more information.
Visitors looking to explore more of TMU’s Urban Farm can also visit the Summer Open Farm at the DCC located on the 8th floor of Daphne Cockwell Complex across the street from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Access the ENG rooftop
The entrance of the ENG building is TMU OneCard access only. A farm staff member will be stationed at the main entrance doors of 245 Church Street (not the Gould Street entrance) to let visitors in.
Guests can make their way to the 4th floor using the elevators and head to the north-west stairwell of the building where the doors to the rooftop farm will be open. Farm staff will be available on site to assist with directions.
