eLearning Modules

You will need to self-enroll in the Research Integrity Training course in D2L before you can access the modules below.

Reference Guide

The Research Integrity eLearning modules and reference guide found on this page set out to inform Toronto Metropolitan University’s research community of best practices in research and to prompt reflection on the topic of research integrity. On completion of the four core modules, you will receive a confirmation certificate as well as certificates for the additional modules. We recommend that you also complete the three additional thematic modules, which address important emerging issues.

The four core modules detail how research integrity operates within each stage of the research process:

  • Module 1: Study Formulation and Research Design
  • Module 2: Research Conduct and Analysis
  • Module 3: Research Dissemination and Publishing
  • Module 4: Financial Reporting and Grant Management

In addition to the core modules, there are three thematic modules that explore emerging and specialized topics in research integrity:

  • Module 5: Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) and Research Integrity
  • Module 6: Graduate Supervision and Research Integrity
  • Module 7: Conflicts of Interest and Research Integrity

The eLearning modules include a case study, reflection questions and a quiz in each section to prompt further learning on each topic. Once you have completed the modules in D2L, you will receive a certificate of completion.

The reference guide is a companion piece to the eLearning modules and a resource for further research integrity work.

You may also access and complete PDF versions of the research integrity modules if you prefer. To follow the modules in their intended full-screen format, please download the PDF and open with a PDF reader such as Adobe Acrobat. However, to receive your certificate of completion, you will need to complete the modules in D2L.
