Alanna Nicole De Fry
Alanna Nicole De Fry is an assistant professor in the Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing at Toronto Metropolitan University and a primary health care nurse practitioner providing comprehensive primary care in the Greater Toronto Area. She is currently completing her PhD in Urban Health at Toronto Metropolitan University.
Her clinical practice focuses on health promotion, chronic disease management, preventative care, and improving access to care for diverse and underserved populations. Her research examines factors associated with glycemic control among younger South Asian adults living with type 2 diabetes, with the goal of informing equitable, evidence-informed primary care.
Alanna is passionate about preparing future nurse practitioners through engaging, clinically relevant teaching that emphasizes clinical reasoning, evidence-informed practice, and compassionate, person-centred care.
