Lincoln Alexander Law welcomes new faculty 2022/23

"With its four foundational pillars, the Lincoln Alexander Law School is truly unique in Canada's landscape of legal education. I am looking forward to being part of this vibrant community and contributing to the advancement of a more accessible and equitable justice system in Canada." - Dr. Idil Atak

Dr. Idil Atak currently holds a cross-appointment with the Criminology Department in the Faculty of Arts at Toronto Metropolitan University, but will be transitioning to the Lincoln Alexander School of Law as a full-time associate professor this August. Before joining Toronto Met, Idil earned her PhD at Université de Montréal’s Faculty of Law and was a SSHRC postdoctoral fellow at McGill University’s Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism. "There’s a lot to look forward to, but I’m especially thrilled that I get to work with such a motivated and diverse group of students as they become thoughtful, practice-ready lawyers!" - Ed Béchard-Torres

Hailing from Montreal, Ed Béchard-Torres joins the Lincoln Alexander School of Law as an assistant professor. Ed's research focuses on how courts contribute to economic transformation in Colombia, South Africa and India. He is particularly interested in how critical and progressive constitutional projects influence corporate and commercial law. Prior to joining the law school, Ed was a Scholar in Residence at New York University’s Center for Human Rights and Global Justice. He holds an LLM from the University of Cambridge, and an LLB and a BCL from McGill University where he is currently completing a DCL. Ed is Venezuelan-Canadian.

“I am truly looking forward to experimenting with hand-on teaching at the Lincoln Alexander School. I have always loved clinical projects and found them a great source of new insights for my research. I have no doubt that my co-teachers, students and colleagues will be inspiring partners to design learning activities that can have positive real world impacts.” - Dr. Christopher Campbell-Duruflé

Joining as an assistant professor, Dr. Christopher Campbell-Duruflé’s work focuses on the role of international law in responding to pressing global challenges. Prior to joining Lincoln Alexander Law, Christopher was a Banting Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Cambridge and remains affiliated as a Fellow of the Cambridge Centre for Environment, Energy and Natural Resource Governance (C-EENRG) and as a member of the C-EENRG Research Series editorial team.
