Michael Huynh
Michael is an executive leader, lawyer, and educator passionate about the responsible handling of data and adoption of innovative technologies. He designs strategies and provides pragmatic advice that help clients navigate complex technological and legal landscapes.
As General Counsel at Intellectual Property Ontario, Michael’s focus is enhancing access to IP services and guiding initiatives to empower Ontario’s innovators. Alongside this role, as an instructor at LASL and Queen's Law, he fosters the next generation of legal minds in data science, AI, regulatory law, and professional ethics.
Michael holds Law degrees and a B.Sc. from McGill, an M.Sc. in genetics from UofT, and the CIPP/C privacy certification, all of which underpin his commitment to promoting ethical and accountable data and AI practices. Michael has served on the Board of the Chinese and Southeast Asian Legal Clinic, Access Alliance, Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council, and the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research.
