Imran is an Assistant Crown Attorney in the Regional Municipality of Hamilton, following nearly a decade of service in Toronto. He appears regularly before the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice, where he prosecutes complex matters under the Criminal Code, including homicide, sexual assault, firearms, fraud, impaired driving, and domestic violence offences. His practice is grounded in the fair and principled exercise of prosecutorial discretion and a commitment to the public interest.

He holds the rank of Major in the Royal Canadian Air Force and serves as a Reserve Force Military Prosecutor under the authority of the Director of Military Prosecutions. In this capacity, he conducts courts martial across Canada and provides instruction on international humanitarian law, including under the Hague and Geneva Conventions. His work reflects an interest in the consistent and principled administration of justice across both civilian and military systems.

Imran has taught at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law since its founding, where he teaches criminal law–related courses. His teaching emphasizes ethical advocacy, sound judgment, and professionalism. He has also taught courses at TMU’s Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, contributed to the Law Practice Program by mentoring candidates entering the profession, and supported students participating in the Gale Cup Moot.

He earned his BA in Criminology and Criminal Justice summa cum laude before receiving his Juris Doctor from the University of Windsor Faculty of Law. He has worked with the Sahtú circuit courts in the Northwest Territories to support access to justice in remote Indigenous communities and previously clerked with the Superior Court of Justice. His perspective is informed by experience across diverse communities and legal systems. He is a recipient of the Justice Bruce J.A. MacDonald Award for excellence in Criminal Trial Advocacy.

Imran’s academic interests include criminal law, constitutional law, and international humanitarian law. He is a contributing author to Communications Law in Canada (LexisNexis) and remains active in mentorship and community engagement. Outside of his professional work, he enjoys playing tennis, maintaining an active lifestyle through CrossFit, and travelling.
