Publisher Resources with Brightspace Integrations

Many publishers offer online content and assessment features related to course textbooks. TMU instructors can opt to provide access to these resources through eligible integrations in their D2L Brightspace courses.
The benefits of using these integrations are often:
- Ease of access for students
- Automated classlists in the external tools
- Streamlined grade syncing from assessments in the external tool to Brightspace Grades
Note: Each third-party publisher manages and supports their own tool and resources.

Update your course outline
Several key considerations must be addressed when using educational technology tools in your course. It is your responsibility to ensure that students are fully informed about the tool, its costs, and other details to align with University policy and Provincial acts.
We strongly encourage you to include all of this essential information in your course outline, to ensure students are aware of how it impacts them.
Refer to the TMU course outline template for some ways to incorporate this information into your course outline and to the Senate Course Outline Policies for guidance on what needs to be included in your course outlines.
Sample course outline content: Publisher Resources
This course utilizes (select one) Cengage/McGraw Hill/Wiley, an external educational technology tool in addition to D2L Brightspace. This tool is used to enhance your course learning experience by providing access to course materials and assessments.
Costs: Students must purchase the e-textbook or use of the e-resource, which costs [Enter cost here].
Other requirements: There may be no additional technical requirements for usage of publisher resources.
Account creation: You are required to create an account for use of this tool.
Data privacy and usage: This tool will have access to your name, TMU email address, and academic work using the tool, and it is visible to course instructors, Academic Assistants, and Graders in your course. This information will be retained within this tool for 2 years, in case of potential appeals or FIPPA requests.
Opt-out options: This tool does not have an opt-out policy.

Access to the Cengage WebAssign Brightspace integration is enabled in individual courses, by request.

The Macmillan Achieve integration is not currently available for use at this time.
Instead, instructors can opt to use the third party tool outside of the integration, and import grades into Brightspace. Visit the Export and import grades resource to learn how to import grades into a course.
Access to the McGraw-Hill Connect Brightspace integration is enabled in individual courses, by request.

As of Fall 2025, access to the Pearson Brightspace integration has been paused due to a security risk. The team at Pearson is working towards a solution to allow the integration to be reinstated.
You can still opt to use the tool outside of the integration, and import grades into Brightspace. Your Pearson representative will provide steps to set up the tool and instructions to share with your students.

The purchase of eBooks & Access Codes for course resources can be facilitated through the TMU Campus Store.
