Admissions & Applying
The Department of Chemistry and Biology offers three undergraduate programs: Biology, Biomedical Sciences and Chemistry. International applicants may also need to meet additional requirements, such as proof of proficiency in the English language.
Ontario Secondary School Applicants
Minimum admission averages and required grades depend on the number of applications received and the number of spaces available each year.
Academic admission requirements for all other applicants are available on the admission requirements page. If you haven’t been educated in Ontario, you may be considered with the equivalent of the Ontario requirements. TMU reserves the right to determine equivalency at its sole discretion.
Biology (BSc), Biomedical Sciences (BSc) and Chemistry (BSc)
Full-Time Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission, Ontario high school students must meet the following requirements:
- Completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
- Completion of 6 Grade 12 U or M courses with a minimum overall average of 70%
- Completion of the following required Grade 12 U courses (for Biology and Biomedical Sciences: minimum grade of 70% in each. For Chemistry: minimum grade of 65% in each):
- English/anglais (ENG4U/EAE4U preferred)
- Advanced Functions (MHF4U)
- 2 of Physics (SPH4U), Biology (SBI4U) or Chemistry (SCH4U)
Grade range for Biology: High 70s
Grade range for Biomedical Sciences: Mid 80s
Grade range for Chemistry: Mid 70s
International, Mature, Transfer and Other Students
