Discover Our Program

Interested in working in research labs, developing pharmaceuticals, or tackling environmental challenges? The Department of Chemistry & Biology offers three undergraduate programs that give you the foundation, laboratory experience, and research opportunities to prepare you for a career in science.

  • Biology (BSc): Explore how living organisms function and interact with their environments through hands-on labs and fieldwork.
  • Biomedical Sciences (BSc): Understand the workings of the human body and mechanisms of disease and health. Build your expertise in areas such as cell biology, genetics, and immunology through TMU's strong relationships with the biomedical industry.
  • Chemistry (BSc): Learn how matter and energy interact through extensive lab experience. This program is accredited by the Canadian Society for Chemistry.
    • We also offer an Applied Physics option that emphasizes physical chemistry as an interdisciplinary approach to various areas of physics.

Future Outlook

Graduates from our programs meet the demand for experts in the field. Here's where you can land a role after graduation:

  • Research and development in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or environmental science.
  • Laboratory analysis, quality control, or product development.
  • Data scientist and account manager across public and private sectors.
You can also continue your studies, conduct research through a  Master’s or PhD program in our Molecular Science or Environmental Science and Management programs.
Kaitlyn Silverthorne

"I was attracted to [TMU] because Toronto is Canada’s leading science and technology innovation hub. I’ve had so many opportunities to experience lab research, attend networking events, and gain hands-on skills in techniques not traditionally taught in undergrad. My interests have really expanded!"
