About this event

How do I get started in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning? What approaches make the most sense for research about my teaching? Where can I find resources? How can I design a project that will help me? Come to this workshop for the answers to these and other questions! Learn how conducting a SoTL project can help you save time in teaching, ask questions, and hear from your peers about their ideas – possibly towards collaboration on a project. Use this workshop to hone your ideas into a fundable SoTL proposal.

Facilitated by

  • Wendy Freeman, Executive Director, Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching
  • Sara Mazrouei, Educational Developer, Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching

Teaching Fellows Program

The Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching and Ryerson University are committed to the advancement of teaching excellence and pedagogical leadership. To advance this mission, the Centre has established the Teaching Fellows Program, which encourages a scholarly and reflective approach to teaching and engagement in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). SoTL is the deliberate and methodical study of teaching using established scholarship to improve learning, resulting in publicly shared products for critique and use by the community (Potter and Kustra, 2011, external link (external link) ). The fellowship provides faculty with an opportunity to engage deeply with a pedagogical issue, problem, challenge, or enhancement that will add to their and our understanding of disciplinary teaching, innovative approaches to teaching and learning, and pedagogies that address social justice and inequity.

The Teaching Fellows Program will accept three fellows in each cohort. The first cohort of this two-year fellowship is from January 2022 to December 2023 and the second cohort is from September 2022 to August 2024. The program is now accepting proposals for the second cohort. Learn more about the program
