Congratulations on your assistantship and welcome to Toronto Metropolitan's community of TAs and GAs! This is your resource for professional development in learning and teaching. We offer a number of ongoing supports for TAs and GAs below.




TA/GA Orientation

Online orientation modules offered through D2L are designed to prepare new TAs and GAs for their roles.

TA/GA Day is a one-day orientation event that invites new and returning TA/GAs to prepare for their upcoming teaching roles by participating in speaker, workshop, panel, and networking activities.


TA/GA Day: Symposium on Teaching Full day of events for TA/GAs and graduate students interested in teaching with opportunities to network with peers and take away valuable tips, tools and strategies for carrying out your teaching duties in the upcoming year.  Fall

Workshop Series

Offers TA/Gas the opportunity to gather together and learn about various aspects related to professional development in teaching.


Graduate Teaching Development Program (GTDP), opens in new window


A program that offers graduate students the opportunity to complete up to two teaching certificates, to gain valuable transferable skills related to teaching and facilitation, to begin developing components of a  teaching dossier that can be used for applying to future teaching positions.


Awards Program


The program rewards selected TAs and GAs who have demonstrated excellence in community building, employee relations, and the student experience.
