Frequently Asked Questions
- Your Advisement Report, available through MyServiceHub, is the best way to see which courses you have completed and which courses you have yet to complete.
- Check your Advisement Report after you finish enrolling in your courses each semester, so you know the courses you have selected line up with the requirements of the program and you remain on track to graduate with your cohort.
- For any questions about what you see on the Advisement Report, please contact Jake Roslyn, the Program Administrator.
- Sometimes, elective courses are not available in a given semester due to matters involving course popularity, instructor availability, classroom capacity, and more.
- While we strive to offer courses according to student preferences based on data we gather from Course Intentions, there is no guarantee that every student will always be able to take every course they want.
- We recommend making a list of your preferred electives before the semester, along with multiple backup selections in case your most desired courses are full or unavailable.
- For students admitted in Fall 2023, the degree requirements differ slightly:
- Rather than JUR 110, JUR 401 is required in L1. JUR 401 is an intensive that is no longer offered; please speak to the Program Administrator if you were admitted in 2023 or earlier and do not have credit for JUR 401.
- For students admitted prior to Fall 2023, the degree requirements differ more:
- Rather than JUR 110, JUR 401 is required in L1. JUR 401 is an intensive that is no longer offered; please speak to the Program Administrator if you were admitted in 2023 or earlier and do not have credit for JUR 401. There is also:
- One fewer required Elective (10 required); and
- One more required course from 2L (JUR 209: Technology, Law, and Society).
Check your Advisement Report for more information, and contact Jake Roslyn, the Program Administrator, if you have any questions about meeting your degree requirements.
- Every year in March, students are invited to take part in Course Intentions. This is a process whereby students can indicate which courses they intend to take in the following academic year. In March 2026, students will select which courses they want to take in 2026-2027. There is also a Course Intentions adjustment period in May, where students can update their selections.
- The data collected from Course Intentions allows the administration to make decisions about which courses to run in the following year, how many instructors to hire, which classrooms to allocate, and how to create a schedule that works for the greatest number of students.
- Participating in Course Intentions is mandatory, and also allows for the greatest chance of successfully enrolling in your desired courses.
- No. By participating in Course Intentions, you are simply indicating to the University which courses you intend to take next year.
- After the Course Intentions process is complete, the MyServiceHub system automatically enrols students into the best possible combination of their intended courses. However, the system is not always able to enrol students in all their intended courses, so it is important to check your enrolments on MyServiceHub after schedules become available in early August.
- There are many reasons why Course Intentions don’t always result in enrolment, such as:
- The course offering was cancelled due to low enrolment or other factors
- The class was scheduled for the same time as one of your other classes; the system will not enrol a student in two classes that happen at the same time
- The number of students who selected the course was higher than the number of spots available. If 40 students pick a class and it only has 30 spots, the system will select 30 people at random to be enrolled.
