Tara Egan Wu to join the Lincoln Alexander School of Law at Ryerson University as Admissions Director
In this mission-critical role, Tara will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, policy development, fiscal management, and general oversight of all recruitment and admission functions for Ryerson Law’s Juris Doctor (JD) program and all future programs. Under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Students and under the guidance of the Faculty the Associate Dean, Academic and the Faculty of Law Admissions Committee, Tara will collaborate with key staff and stakeholders to support the realization of the law school’s and the university’s strategic programmatic goals. She will also be responsible for bolstering the law school's reputation nationally and internationally, establishing outreach strategies to improve and broaden recruiting pipelines.
With more than 13 years of progressive post-secondary recruitment and admissions experience, Tara brings immense experience to Ryerson Law. Her most recent role was at Western University’s Ivey Business School where she served as the Associate Director of Admissions and Recruitment for the Executive MBA program. In this position, Tara oversaw end-to-end recruitment and admissions and proudly introduced the program’s first scholarships, including ones for Black and Indigenous learners.
While at Ivey Business School, Tara also launched the Accelerated MBA program, for which she developed the full recruitment plan including events, marketing, and branding. With the support of her team, Tara designed an innovative approach that would appeal to a new market segment for the school. She was also responsible for revamping and formalizing the interview and evaluation method as well as the admissions process and procedures for both programs, with a focus on admitting a strong and diverse class. Tara led the admissions and scholarship committee for both programs and worked to ensure a great candidate experience for all applicants.
Prior to her work at Western University, Tara was responsible for international and domestic recruitment and admissions in progressive roles at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering, Faculty of Arts & Science, and at the Rotman School of Management.
Tara holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts from Bishop’s University and a Master of Arts in Theatre and Performance Studies from the University of Toronto. She continues to be passionate about education and professional development and has completed several certificates including Project Management and Fundraising & Volunteer Management.
On the lighter side, Tara is an avid bicyclist and vintage vespa owner, and enjoys playing softball during the summer.
