All students, faculty and staff of the Lincoln Alexander School of Law are invited to join an engaging panel discussion on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 12 - 1:30 p.m. Panelists will share perspectives about how the experience of Black lawyers in the Canadian legal industry has evolved over time and suggest considerations for the future. The panel will discuss how Black lawyers have driven these developments, and on the role of community and allyship in sustaining meaningful change.

The panel will be moderated by Donna E. Young, Founding Dean of the Lincoln Alexander School of Law. The panelists include:

  • Peter Thurton (Legal Counsel, Enbridge)
  • Denise Dwyer (Assistant Deputy Minister, Indigenous Education and Well-Being Division in the Ontario Ministry of Education; Founder of the Black Female Lawyers' Network)
  • Lia Douglas (Lincoln Alexander Law Student; Co-President of BLSA Lincoln Alexander)
