About this Event

Navigating conversations about race and racism in the classroom can be tough for a myriad of reasons. Talking about Race in the Classroom is a workshop designed to help you gain confidence in facilitating conversations about anti-racism and racism as an educator. The one-and-a-half-hour workshop will use a narrative approach to help you:

  • Examine factors that both complicate and support conversations about race and anti-racism in the virtual and face-to-face classroom setting.
  • Self-awareness and confidence in your capacity to hold conversations about race and racism in the virtual and face-to-face classroom setting.
  • Practice applying tools and strategies that can be used to encourage engagement; mutuality, support, and empathy during discussions on race and racism
  • Share and build on techniques to handle situations that do not go as planned.
