Biography

Suprabha is a multidisciplinary creative with nearly a decade of experience producing art, animation and creative content for a diverse range of clients around the world. She is also the author of three speculative fiction webnovels that feature her own art, science communication and lush worldbuilding rooted in southern Asia.

Born and bred in the central hills of Sri Lanka, Suprabha has worked at Wunderman Thompson Colombo, creating content for the country’s largest corporates, such as character design and motion graphics for Sri Lanka Telecom’s national ad campaigns. In Malaysia, she has interned in Sunway City’s Frogtale Studio, modeling and texturing 3D assets for the animated TV show, Sam McHamm and the Kingdom of Foodoo.

Her extensive volunteer experience in sustainability and vegan food advocacy led her to work remotely as the Creative Director of The Food You Choose, an offshoot of Food Frontier based in Melbourne, which supplied sustainable food to Australia’s largest universities up until the pandemic. She has also operated as a freelance creative for ShoreTree Holdings and its international portfolio of brands as well as boutique studios and agencies, such as Annt Media and Grease Pencil.

Prior to her studies in Canada, Suprabha’s most recent work was for CLAN B/Balmond Studio, based in London and Sri Lanka, through which she produced 2D architectural animations for the billion-dollar Cinnamon Life development as well as a 15-minute animated adaptation of the mathematical book, Number 9 by Cecil Balmond.

Suprabha began developing her original IPs during the pandemic, and her three completed webnovels to date have a combined word count of 350,000 words and over 60,000 comments from readers around the world. Her first novel, Komoreby, was shortlisted for the Watty Awards 2022 and entered Wattpad’s Editor’s Choice list on the platform’s homepage. She was also invited to the very first cohort of Wattpad’s Creator Program, which was originally for authors with high engagement. Suprabha has now adapted her work Darkenlolly into a sci-fi metroidvania video game, which she is building on Godot with her own narrative design, art and animation.

Equipped with an arsenal of creative skills and experience across multiple industries and international teams, Suprabha often takes projects from conception to final product. Her work blends artistry and functionality with her unique perspective as she continues to forge her way forward in an ever-evolving creative world.

Why Digital Media?

From a young age, my imagination has been fed and fueled by the storybooks, animated movies and video games that reached me from across the world, bringing distant lands to my doorstep. I eventually realized that these works speak to hearts, galvanize minds, drive change and break barriers—a creative world domination. I decided to become an artist, animator and storyteller. Now I'm on a quest to harness the power of digital media to make change as well as reach and enthrall millions of people.
