Ashley Moniz is Legal Counsel in both the Office of the General Counsel and Board Secretariat and the Office of the Vice President of Reseach and Innovation at Toronto Metropolitan University. He provides support on matters related to university research, as well as corporate/commercial and intellectual property matters.

Prior to this, Ashley studied at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law. He then completed the Law Practice Program at TMU, performing his placement at a trademark law boutique firm in Ottawa. After being called to the bar in 2020, he spent two years working as Assistant Director at York University's IP Osgoode and IP Innovation Clinic (including a year as Adjunct Professor for the Clinic) and a further 2 years as Legal Counsel, Research at Brock University.

Outside of work, Ashley is a CPD Liaison for the Ontario Bar Association Sexual and Gender Diversity Alliance. He also volunteers in community theatre, having performed with Clarkson Music Theatre and City Centre Musical Productions in Mississauga.
