Workshops

The Physics of Bubbles

Students get to blow bubbles into different concentrations of solutions to investigate how the concentration affects the stability of the bubbles. While some students blow bubbles, others will time how long it takes for the last bubble to pop. Each student will have a chance to blow bubbles and to time them. Students will be learning about the forces applied along the surface of the bubbles and reasons for the bubbles to pop.

Pitch Black

Have you ever experienced a blackout? Do you remember the one we had over the holidays a few years ago? The city is currently experiencing a blackout, and you are the team of engineers that have been called in to restore power to the community. You will work in teams to build a replica of the city on an electric circuit board, and use your knowledge and creativity to figure out how to get the power back on! This fun hands-on activity will allow students to use their problem solving skills, and introduce them to the creative world of engineering.
