Parky Lau

PhD Student, Clinical Psychology

Parky works with Dr. Colleen Carney in the Sleep and Depression Lab.

At the lab, Parky conducts assessments and provides cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia as part of the lab’s on-going clinical trials. Parky’s primary research interest involves understanding predictors associated with mood and sleep outcomes after treatment and his Master’s thesis examined repetitive negative thinking as a risk factor for developing chronic insomnia. During this time, Parky has also investigated how sleep health can be maintained throughout the pandemic.

Outside the lab, Parky is an active member of the broader Ryerson and psychology community. He volunteers as part of the Academic Integrity Council and as a student reviewer for the Research Ethics Board at Ryerson. Parky has also taken on mentorship and reviewer roles as part of the Canadian Psychology Association. Beyond research and clinical work, Parky's passions include mentoring and teaching. He has received a Teaching Development TA/GA award for substantial contributions to improving undergraduate student learning
