Biography

Ryan is an impact-driven interdisciplinary digital artist and designer who seeks to create enthralling and impactful narratives through a variety of interactive media.  Infusing philosophy and storytelling into every creative experiment, Ryan seeks to develop new ways of relating to technology, not as a departure from nature, but as an expression of the ever-evolving human spirit.  His work attempts to cultivate greater awareness, responsibility, and appreciation for the natural world while opening eyes to the possibility of the supernatural hidden within it.  As an XR researcher and educator, his Master’s thesis explores new methods of engaging learners through immersive gamification & interactive environmental design.

Why Digital Media?

I love how the Digital Media program scaffolds interdisciplinary media production with leadership skills, critical thinking, practice-based research and an entrepreneurial mindset.  As someone who wants to build my own startup but also wants to pursue a career in higher education, I find its the best of both worlds.  The program administrators are considerate and attentive, and have cultivated a tight-knit community of media professionals who all support each other’s personal aspirations.
