Hyacinth Gawne

Elected by Alumni - September 1, 2024 to August 31, 2027

Hyacinth Gawne is a Manager of Rapid Transit Program Delivery at Metrolinx. In this role, she leads the implementation of standardized policies and procedures across transit expansion projects in Ontario. Prior to her current role, she spent over seven years at the Ontario Public Service in progressively senior positions. At the Ontario Treasury Board, she provided advice to Cabinet committees on major capital projects, policies, and programs in the education and justice sectors, including schools, correctional facilities, and courthouses.

Hyacinth was elected to the Toronto Metropolitan University’s Board of Governors in 2024 for a three-year term as an alumna member. Currently she is also a mentor at the University of Toronto. Previously, she served as Vice Chair of Equal Voice, an organization dedicated to electing more women to all levels of political office, as well as District Delegate & Community Lead at her workplace union. In addition, she has had experience in supporting community issues, such as social housing in the Flemingdon Park area.

Hyacinth holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto; a Post-baccalaureate Certificate in Public Administration and Leadership from Toronto Metropolitan University; and a Master’s in Public Policy, Administration & Law from York University.

She was the recipient of the 2022 IPAC Emerging Professionals Award for outstanding achievements and dedication to public service, as well as the 2024 Victoria College Emerging Leader Award.
