Massey TMU Visiting Fellow Program at Massey College
To: Full-year sabbaticants in 2025-2026 whose leaves start in September
Dear Professor,
Through a partnership with Massey College at the University of Toronto, we are pleased to offer you an opportunity to apply for a fellowship at the College. It will allow you to enjoy the College’s disciplined yet social environment, offering shared access to a quiet office to focus on research as well as activities with colleagues throughout the year including the Senior Fellow Luncheons and the annual Senior Fellows Gala.
As a full year sabbaticant in 2025-26 whose leave starts in September, you are eligible to apply to the Massey Toronto Metropolitan University Visiting Fellow program at Massey College. Up to three TMU faculty members on sabbatical leave in the upcoming academic year will be selected (through a two-stage, competitive review process, outlined below) as Massey TMU Visiting Fellows. The fellowship appointments run from September 1, 2025, to April 30, 2026.
Massey College is a multi-disciplinary and diverse community welcoming the exchange of opinions, collaboration and ideas. Members include distinguished senior scholars and notable members of society. Prior Fellows have found having access to a dedicated space and time for their research an enhancement to their leave. Some recent announcements regarding prior winners are below if you wish to review them:
- 2019: Marco A. Fiola (Arts, Languages, Literatures, and Cultures)
- 2020: Sepali Guruge (FCS, Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing)
- 2021: Dan Horner (Arts, Criminology) and Farzin Vejdani (Arts, History)
- 2022: Sarah Henstra (English), Carolyn Kane (ProfComm), and Atefh Mashatan (ITM)

TMU will review applications and propose up to three faculty members to Massey College for consideration. Massey College will interview the TMU candidates before making a final decision on who will be appointed as TMU Massey College Fellows. The successful TMU Massey College Fellows will have the same privileges, including sharing an office at the College, being accorded the status of a full “Senior Resident” of the College, and access to Robarts Library.
