Clarification: Official start and end time of classes at Ryerson
To all Ryerson faculty members and instructors:
In November 2014, I issued an official university statement to all Ryerson University students, faculty and instructors in regards to start and end time of classes, as well as appropriate break length. The official statement is below.
I want to clarify that the 10-minute interval is for travel time to get across campus but it is also shared time to give the outgoing faculty member/instructor time to depart and the incoming one time to setup. This transition should occur during the same 10-minute interval.
Sincerely,
Mohamed Lachemi
Provost and Vice President Academic
Official statement on start and end time of classes:
βAt Ryerson, undergraduate and graduate day classes begin at 10 minutes past the hour, and end on the hour. The 10-minute interval provides travel time for students and faculty coming from various locations across a large, downtown campus. It is important that instructors complete their class by the scheduled end time, to provide the next instructor time to set up and to ensure that students have time to make their next class.
Evening classes at The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education begin at the scheduled start time β 6:00 pm, 6:30 pm, etc.
Instructors are encouraged to provide a reasonable break during any class that is two hours or longer.β
