This talk will focus on modeling and optimizing large-scale urban transportation networks, with particular attention to congestion dynamics, user decisions, multimodal demand, game theory, artificial intelligence, and system-level control strategies.
Speaker bios
Negin Alisoltani is an Assistant Professor at GRETTIA, Université Gustave Eiffel, Paris, France. She received her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, with a focus on transportation, operations research, and computer science, from IFSTTAR and Université de Lyon in 2020.
With experience in both academia and industry, Negin has contributed to projects involving the design and simulation of shared taxi, ride-sharing, and on-demand mobility services for cities including Paris, Lyon, Rome, New York, Chicago, Singapore, and Abu Dhabi. She received the Singapore Mobility Award for a solution aimed at promoting sustainable travel in the post-COVID-19 context. She is the co-founder and Vice-Chair of the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society France Chapter. She is also the Principal Investigator of the I-SITE CAMPUS project and contributes to the I-SITE OPTIMULTI project, as well as to French national research initiatives including CityFab Dunkerque and ANR/PEPR FORBAC. Her research interests lie at the intersection of data science, operations research, artificial intelligence, and sustainability.
Mostafa Ameli is an Associate Professor in applied mathematics, computer science, and transportation science at the Transportation Engineering and Computer Science Laboratory (GRETTIA), Université Gustave Eiffel, Paris, France, and an affiliated researcher with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences and the Institute of Transportation Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.
His research lies at the intersection of operations research and computer science, focusing on mathematical, machine learning, and computational tools to design smarter and more resilient transportation systems. He received his Habilitation to Direct Research (HDR) in Computer Science in 2026. Before joining GRETTIA, he contributed to a Horizon 2020 ERC project and received his Ph.D. degree in 2019 from Université Paris-Est, IFSTTAR (The French Institute of Science and Technology for Transport, Planning, and Networks), and the University of Lyon, France. He is the founder of the IEEE France Section ITSS Chapter and a member of the IEEE ITS Technical Committee on Decision and Control in Transportation Systems. He is a recipient of the INFORMS Award for Outstanding Paper in Urban Transportation Planning and Modeling and contributes to multiple national, European, and international projects. As PI, he has received a French national starting grant (ANR JCJC, 2025–2029), France–Berkeley funding from Collège de France, and I-SITE FUTURE funding.
