Cheyenne Melo
Biography:
I currently provide consultation and support for children attending early childhood settings while collaborating with the family and other professionals to plan for services which address the developmental needs of the child, including access to specialized services such as Occupational Therapy and Behaviour Management. I provide coaching and modeling of strategies and recommendations in early childhood settings. I also develop, implement and monitor Individual Support Plans for children in early childhood settings.
My experience within the ECS program impacted my career trajectory because of the amazing field placement experiences I was given the opportunity to have. Without the wide range of experiences I was exposed to through my field placements, I would not have had the experience in working with children with extra support needs in early childhood settings. The ECS program also provided a wide range of courses and elective courses that stimulated my interest in working with children with extra support needs and early intervention, as well as provided me with the knowledge and skill set needed to feel confident and capable in my abilities.
