Professor Liping Fang’s conflict resolution research translated for Chinese market
Congratulations to Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) professor Liping Fang on having two of his books recently translated for the Chinese market. Both books detail the Graph Model for Conflict Resolution (GMCR) methodology that Fang co-originated. While a number of research groups in China currently conduct research using the GMCR methodology, the translation will further bolster awareness for Fang’s work and engage future researchers, practitioners and students.
What is the GMCR methodology?
GMCR is a comprehensive, practical, and extensible framework designed to systematically investigate real-world strategic conflicts. Examples of these conflicts include climate change, environmental management, water resources management, supply chain management and food crises. These complex, large-scale conflicts typically involve multiple decision makers, each pursuing distinct objectives. As decision makers naturally seek to maximize their own values and achieve their goals, strategic conflicts frequently arise. To help decision makers reach a desirable equilibrium, GMCR provides a formal set of analysis and mathematical modelling techniques capable of considering human factors, including emotions, attitudes, and misperceptions.
