Call to Action for the LTC
In the spirit of closing gaps (community care) and mutual aid, the Office of Social Innovation will be collecting pairs of new socks and $5 Tim Horton’s Gift Cards at this year’s Learning and Teaching Conference, which will be donated to Toronto Indigenous Harm Reduction (TIHR) (external link) in support of their on-going outreach program in downtown Toronto. TIHR is a grassroots, Indigenous-led support system that aims to reduce harm around stigmatized experiences such as substance use, displacement, and other survival strategies resulting from racism and colonization. They support many folks in the greater TMU community.
We are requesting that attendees each bring an item to donate. You can also make a donation directly to TIHR to help them continue night and bike outreach, and other harm reduction and health promotion practices that are desperately needed right now more than ever. Learn more about their grassroots outreach on the TIHR site (external link) .
Poster & Service Spotlight drop offs
Poster and Service Spotlight presenters will be provided with an area close to the registration tables where they can drop off (and pick up) any presentation materials for the course of the day, with poster setup beginning at 4 p.m. on the DCC 2nd floor.
