The Black Scholars Directory serves as a tool for meaningful engagement, collaboration, and institutional accountability, and as a testimony to the breadth, brilliance, and transformative potential of Black scholarship at Toronto Metropolitan University. Rooted in a commitment to Black flourishing, this resource uplifts the intellectual labor and lived experience of Black faculty across disciplines, showcasing the vital contributions they make to our collective pursuit of knowledge, equity, and justice.
At the Black Scholarship Institute, we understand that visibility is a necessity. This resource is thematically organized to reflect the expansive nature of Black thought. This structure invites readers to see not only the individuals profiled, but also the shared conversations and intergenerational legacies that connect their work. It is a strategic intervention designed to support faculty mentorship, research collaboration, curriculum innovation, and the amplification of Black thought leadership within and beyond TMU.
