Dr. Kenneth Kalu is an Associate Professor in Global Management Studies at the Ted Rogers School of Management. He joined Toronto Metropolitan University from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a Visiting Research Scholar. Dr. Kalu’s research focuses on the nature and evolution of economic and political institutions in developing countries. He is interested in examining how economic and political institutions shape and are shaped by the business environment in Africa’s emerging markets. His research also explores the nature and dynamics of investment flows from developing countries into other developing countries. Dr. Kalu also studies immigration policies and their impacts on immigrants and the host country.
Prior to returning to academia, Dr. Kalu held senior executive positions in the public and private sectors in Canada and overseas. He is a regular commentator on Africa’s economy and institutions, foreign aid, foreign direct investment, and China’s economic partnerships with Africa. His views have been widely reported in print and electronic media worldwide. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Accounting, an M.Sc. in Finance, an M.A. in Economics, and a PhD in Public Policy.
