Dr. Claustre Bajona holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the Universitat de Barcelona (Spain), an M.A. in Economics from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (Spain) and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Minnesota (USA). She has published on topics ranging from green tax reform and social security to the effects of trade on cross-country inequality.

Dr. Bajona is deeply committed to graduate education. She has extensive experience teaching and mentoring students at all graduate levels, both at TMU and during her time at the University of Miami. She has acted as a supervisor or committee member for numerous Ph.D. dissertations and Master’s research papers, and has played an active role in recruiting, supporting and enhancing the experience of students in the graduate economics programs. Her dedication to postsecondary education has been recognized with the Dean’s Teaching Award (2013), the Excellence in Teaching First Year Courses Award (2016), and a Learning and Teaching Grant from the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching 2024.
