38 Exhibit Unmuted

Project:

38unmuted: Exhibit

Description:

38. Presents the 3rd installment of the 38Exhibit series.

The exclusive premiere of The Negotiation Space — a documentary in conversations with 3 Black Christian creatives.

It explores the stories of these individuals as they navigate the “negotiation space.” It is an undefined space; it can be a physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual zone where creatives navigate the tension between faith or beliefs, cultural expectations, and modern creative aspirations.

The film follows as they talk about identity, claiming agency, and potentially make career decisions with the considerations of faith, family pressures, immigrant narratives, and the weight of respectability.

38Exhibit: Unmuted is an evening of storytelling, creativity, and meaningful conversation. The event brings together community members, creatives, and changemakers to engage with powerful stories that inspire reflection and connection.

Guests will also enjoy incredible live music, making this a night that blends film, music, and culture in an unforgettable way.

Join us for an experience that celebrates authentic voices and the power of sharing our stories.

About Misan:

I am an event producer, filmmaker, and founder of 38, a creative hub for emerging artists and storytellers, where I serve as Creative Director. I produce and direct large-scale projects that merge art, fashion, culture, and community, with experience across production, directing, styling, photography, costume design, and creative direction. My work is driven by collaboration, storytelling, and conscious creation, with a focus on developing experiential campaigns, activations, and creative experiences that foster connection, empowerment, and collective growth.

I created this project with the sole purpose of growing and learning. I wanted to answer a question about a Nigerian my age who has a passion for the creative world: how? How did I get to do what I am doing now? It’s so funny thinking about it now; I have not even scratched the surface of what I aim to achieve, but I have taken a few steps in the right direction. This project helped me understand that you need to start with the end goal; once that is established, start taking steps. You don’t need to know  5 steps ahead; you just need to see the step in front and run your marathon, because that is life.

What I am saying may not make full sense, especially if we don’t have similar experiences, but watch the documentary and learn from others. “The Negotiation Space” is a project that calls for reflection.
