Our Mandate

The Office of Social Innovation (OSI) strives to create transformative solutions to complex social issues through teaching, learning, research, and community engagement. We advance opportunities to support, drive, and lead change at Toronto Metropolitan University and the broader community.

What We Offer

OSI offers unique services and opportunities in social innovation for all members of the Toronto Metropolitan community.

Research, Teaching & Learning

We strive to create transformative approaches to challenge complex social issues through teaching, learning and research. Our commitment to research is informed by the understanding that novel approaches are required to challenge systems of exclusion.

Student Experience

Our approach to student engagement centers on community-based experiential learning. We support students in studying, exploring, and acting on complex social systems through academic courses, work and internship placements, and collaborative opportunities with community partners.

Community Engagement

We recognize that Toronto Metropolitan University has an important role to play in the flourishing of its downtown neighbourhood; and that tackling the complex social challenges in our communities requires mutual understanding and collaboration from all partners and stakeholders. We welcome opportunities to act as a bridge between TMU and the wider community, partnering with our neighbours on bold and creative responses to the issues we face.
