Harvesting Care: Addressing Campus Food Insecurity Through Mutual Aid

While food insecurity is a growing public health concern across Canada, postsecondary students are particularly vulnerable to food insecurity. Our recent analyses found that 34.4% of students at TMU experienced hunger over a 12-month period, and the rate bumps up to 51.5% during September-October 2024 (Seko et al., 2026).

This Transformation Cafe takes place in collaboration between Community Wellbeing, The Office of Social Innovation, and The Centre for Studies in Food Security to bring together vibrant mutual aid groups across TMU campus and beyond. The panelists will share their unique efforts to address student food insecurity. Join us for some refreshments and discussion around what we can do to make sure no student goes hungry.
