The Garden Art Studio

The Garden Art Studio is a 10-week art project for serving Indigenous and at-risk communities in the Allan Gardens neighbourhood.

Saint Luke's Church is actively involved in supporting those in greatest need in its neighbourhood of downtown East Toronto. They recognize that the individuals they welcome to their food programs have a vital need for creative nourishment. They have passions, experiences and important perspectives to share; and the need to be seen as more than their currently constrained conditions.

The heart of this program is to offer community members the time, place and resources to exercise their creativity in a safe and supportive and inspiring environment. The artist animators will design the program offering guidance and suggestions to those who want it, and simply support and materials to others.

Dates: Summer 2021

Location: Saint Luke's United Church

Partners: Saint Luke's United Church, The Friends of Allan Gardens, OAHAS (Ontario Aboriginal HIV/AIDS Strategy), The City of Toronto and Toronto Metropolitan University.
