Psychology hosts 2-day workshop for high school students in SHAD at Ryerson

July 18, 2018

A team of our faculty (Drs. Choma, Koerner, Moulson, & Spaniol) along with our graduate students conducted a 2-day workshop for high school students in the SHAD at Ryerson program.  SHAD is a Canadian charity that holds annual month-long summer programs for exceptional high school students from across Canada. The students live in residence at Canadian Universities and participate in a range of immersive workshops, lectures, and activities, all focusing on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math).

The topic of this year’s workshop was the psychology of climate change skepticism. Students participated in a research study, analyzed data, and gave presentations on the research findings. They also visited the Psychology labs (opens in new window)  and learned about careers in Psychology.

This is the second time Ryerson is serving as one of the SHAD host campuses. For more information see: https://www.torontomu.ca/shad/ (opens in new window)

This event was supported in part by the Ontario Ministry of Research, Innovation and Science Early Researcher Award (external link, opens in new window)  which is held by each of the faculty member organizers.
