Biography

Filip graduated with a Bachelor of Technology degree in TMU’s Graphic Communications Management program. Throughout his four years, not only did he expand his knowledge in print media and the graphic communications process, he also studied the industry’s financial analysis, marketing strategies and project management sector. Additionally, he further developed his graphic design skills in the Adobe suite with programs such as Illustrator and Photoshop. He even experimented with digital 3D modeling and video editing. 

Given his multidisciplinary drive and innovative vision, Filip is naturally drawn to digital marketing, as he wishes to eventually pursue a career in the field. He has a great passion and talent for incorporating his creative skills along with his knowledge of business and creating a successful customer/end-user experience. Through his educational endeavours, he has taken part in many marketing campaign group projects where a product or service was to be commercialized, communicated and advertised digitally through creative methods. He would generally overtake roles such as designing a company poster, editing a video advertisement or conducting a SWOT analysis of the focused market. This line of work comes naturally to him, as he genuinely pursues his passion whenever he is involved in it. 

Filip, otherwise, is a big sports fan and enjoys playing soccer and tennis. He also loves to travel and he speaks three languages, including French. 

Why Digital Media?

MDM is particularly appealing to me due to the institution's distinguished reputation as an elite leader in digital innovativeness. I extremely admire the program’s transdisciplinary nature of how students from various disciplines are accepted to ultimately form the ‘Talent Triangle’ of creativity, technology and business. To add, completing the Major Research Project will grant me the opportunity to genuinely shape the future of this industry and enable me to express my creative ideas on a professional level. I wish to build myself the necessary framework that would prepare me to pursue a career in digital marketing. Thus, I am keen on learning the artistry behind the promotion of products and services through internet and digital technologies, as I trust that the Master of Digital Media can provide exactly that.

The Aesthetics of Violence in Entertainment: The UFC's Utilization of this Concept in Digital Marketing Strategies

My research paper delves into the exploration of the aesthetic of violence in entertainment, focusing on the UFC's effective utilization of this concept in their digital marketing strategies. By analyzing the three identified dimensions of intensity, atmosphere, and context & meaning, I aim to understand how the UFC capitalizes on the profitability of violence, despite its moral implications. To visually communicate my work, digitally, I will be creating a graphically designed portrait that will illustrate the research findings and the three dimensions of the aesthetics of violence.
