Major Research Paper

The agriculture sector predominantly uses a non-digital approach, primarily relying on loyal customers and word of mouth for their advertising (Bojkić et al. 2018). Kranicz Orchards is my family’s 150-acre fruit farm in southern Ontario, we have adapted an ‘old school’ tactic since establishing in 1977. My MRP will help digitalize the farm by implementing various digital techniques such as paid search advertising, search engine optimization, social media, and video marketing. Thus, my research aims to analyze these various digital platform analytics in relation to the farm to discover the overall effectiveness of social media and web platforms in the agriculture sector.

Biography

Savannah graduated from University of Connecticut with a major in Marketing while also minoring in Communication with honours.  While completing her undergraduate degree she was very interested in brand management including market research.  Savannah is hoping to utilize her undergraduate degree in Marketing as well as her education in Digital Media to help spearhead the expansion and the success of her family’s 110 acre orchard farm in Harrow, Ontario.  Her Marketing degree and working on the farm has expanded her technical and non-technical skills but she hopes that her soon-to-be acquired skills in digital media will allow her to make content such as videos, graphics, and websites to further their social media platforms.  She is hoping this will further expand her creative skillset and she believes her degree in Marketing is a great stepping stone.

Why Digital Media?

My interest in the MDM program came during the completion of my undergraduate degree in Marketing. From my previous education, I already had a clear understanding in selling products and services, developing business strategies and promoting brands but wanted to expand that. The one element I wanted to expand on is the digital media aspect of marketing. The Digital Media program here at Ryerson is the framework for innovation and creating, and I believe it will launch me into the digital media world.
