Biography

Nganji Kimonyo, is a Rwandan-Canadian creative and communications consultant.

His story started in Montreal where he was born, but moved to Kigali, Rwanda at the age of 9, and since then has been moving back and forth between Rwanda and Canada. His creative journey started during his undergrad at Concordia University, where he majored in Communication Studies and graduated in 2018. He got involved in stand-up comedy, made a music video, and made a few sound projects and podcasts.

His professional journey started in 2018 in Kigali where he worked as a communications consultant. Nganji worked with a wide variety of organisations such as festivals, start-ups, incubators and museums. During his time as a consultant he also continued making podcasts, sound projects and doing creative writing in general.

Then the pandemic happened and it made him think about changing direction. He then decided he wanted to learn more about the world of digital storytelling and thought going back to school would be the best way to do so. He had heard about Ryerson’s MDM program in his last year of undergrad and decided that’s where he wanted to go, and is now happy and proud to be part of the MDM v9.0 2021 - 2022 cohort.

Why Digital Media?

I chose MDM because I wanted to be part of a community of creatives, innovators and have access to the wonderful resources available to us here. I feel immensely proud to be here and will savour every moment.
