Millie Yates is fashion designer, researcher, and digital design educator. Her research explores the intersection of fashion, sustainability, and technology, including the role virtual design can play in enacting more accessible and environmentally-conscious fashion futures. She holds an MA in Fashion Studies and a BDes in Fashion Design from Toronto Metropolitan University, and has previously worked as a Senior Fashion designer for two major Canadian womenswear brands. Her professional background includes the design and development of cut and sew knitwear, fleece, activewear, and soft wovens categories, and has extensive experience with collection design, technical design, and product development.
An avid digital fashion enthusiast, her master’s research examined the impact of virtual prototyping technology on the fashion design process. Millie is a CLO 3D accredited instructor and teaches digital fashion design at Toronto Metropolitan University.
