SANIYA RASHID

Emerging Graduate Researcher

As a Master of Journalism student on the project and as someone having five years of rigorous research training at the University of Toronto, I am hoping to help bridge the divide between critical academic research and the newsroom. I am working with Prof. Davis to sift through the vast body of research available on "news consumption" and "news audiences."

With newsrooms slowly adopting an audience centric approach in the production and dissemination of news across a variety of platforms like social media, studying audience behaviour is becoming a focus for many scholars. I am working to summarize trends in current qualitative and quantitive research methods to study English language audiences - a contribution that will assist in building a research framework for the project at large.
