Scott, Daniel
Daniel Scott is a Registered Early Childhood Educator who has been working with children for the last 10 years. Daniel graduated from the Early Childhood Education program in 2009. His career started as a Supply Staff in the Toronto Metropolitan University Early Learning Centre and over time evolved to providing support for children in the centre with an identified disability. From there he was brought on as the Outpatient Playroom Coordinator at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital 5 years ago. As part of his role on the Client & Family Integrated Care Team, Daniel has been the staff lead on the development and implementation of the Children’s Advisory Council. This is a strengths-based engagement platform for clients and siblings ages 3-13 to express feedback and be a part of the change process at Holland Bloorview, which was one of the first facilities of its kind in North America to engage children from such a young age
Daniel is also a certified facilitator of the Positive Parenting Program which aims to build positive behaviours in children, confidence in parents' abilities, and provide community support for raising children with special needs. He has spoken on behalf of the hospital both nationally and internationally on the importance of engaging children in health care decision-making and is committed to helping make a world of possibilities for children and youth with disabilities. His degree gave him a strong foundational understanding of child development and play-based learning and the field placements he had gave him experience working with children and families in the community. The skills learned in his degree and the contacts made during his field placements are what got him to where he is today.
